Department of Biology

Welcome to the Illinois College Biology Department!

The Biology curriculum emphasizes biological fundamentals, hands-on experience in the laboratory, undergraduate research, and scientific writing.  Many students are also involved in Tri-Beta, the Biological Honors Society.  

Students majoring in Biology are encouraged to conduct merit research leading to the possibility of co-authored publications and/or presentations at scientific meetings.  

The advanced courses meet requirements for medicine, dentistry, occupational or physical therapy, nursing, medical technology, teaching and graduate study in Biology.
