Seminars

Instructional Technology is dedicated to providing convenient technology training through a variety of channels. Seminars are brief and hands-on. Registration is required for all seminars. The quickest way to register is via this website. Please register only for seminars you can reasonably attend. If a conflict prevents you from attending the seminar please cancel your registration, so that others may attend. You may cancel via the website or email helpdesk@ic.edu.

In an effort to provide the best training service, we reserve the right to cancel your registration if our records indicate that your attendance has been in "no-show" status. This means that there were at least 3 seminars during any one semester for which you registered and neither showed up nor canceled your registration within 48 hours prior to the start of the seminar.

If you are interested in a seminar that appears to be full, we encourage you to join the waiting list by registering for that seminar. Participants who join the waiting list for a seminar may make it into the seminar, due to cancellations, the addition of a new section, or various other reasons. When possible, we will open an additional section of the seminar during the same semester. In addition, the extent of the waiting list for any given seminar can help us determine demand for the seminar topic in the future. Once your name is on the waiting list, you will be notified via e-mail if a space becomes available.

Seminar Handouts

Handouts for seminars are available online. It is your option to review the seminar handout prior to the seminar for which you have registered, as handouts will not be provided by the instructor during the seminar. You may also choose to print the handout, and bring it to the seminar with you.

If you do not see the seminar handout online 24 hours before your seminar, the instructor will provide you with appropriate information or resources during the seminar. If you experience problems identifying the correct handout for your seminar, please email helpdesk@ic.edu.

Seminar Formats

Lecture

The lecture format seminars are usually held in a lecture hall rather than in a computer lab. These seminars will include overviews, explanations, and demonstrations of the topic.

Hands-On

Hands-on seminars will be held in a lab where each participant will have access to a computer running the operating system or software designated for that seminar. Typically, hands-on seminars include the basics, introduction, and getting started courses.

Web-Based

These seminars will be taught through a Web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) on computers running the Windows operating system.
