Maintaining a Healthy Computer

Maintaining your computer is essential to keep it running smoothly and healthy for years. Without routine maintenance a computer becomes sluggish and can wear out much faster. Computer maintenance does not have to be troublesome. It is just a matter of scheduling

A success story
One IT individual taught his in-laws how to maintain their computer six years ago. They live 12 hours away so he could not just appear on their doorstep to help with their computer. They routinely ran the maintenance that was recommended. Recently, his in-laws moved to to be nearer to family. They took their six year old computer with them. Having used a cable connection they asked the cable company to come to their home to set up their system information. The installation technician made the statement that this was the "fastest running older machine" he had seen. It ran better than many new XP machines he set up cable on.

A not so successful story
Another IT individual assisted her nephew in selecting and purchasing a computer after his high school graduation 4 years ago. He was taught how to maintain the computer. Assuming that maintenance was kept up, shenever questioned him about it. About a year and a half ago her nephew was making statements that his computer was a piece of junk. Knowing better, she ran routine maintenance and found it had never been done. His computer was two and a half years old and running very poorly. She again taught him how to maintain his computer. Each time she visits she asks about the maintenance. "No, I haven't had time" This computer is younger and has much more capabilities than the computer in the above story. Routine computer maintenance makes a big difference in computer life and speed.
