Maintaining your computer is essential to keep it running smoothly and healthy for years. Without routine maintenance a computer becomes sluggish and can wear out much faster. Computer maintenance does not have to be troublesome. It is just a matter of scheduling

 

Why should I check that my virus protection is up to date?

Keeping your virus definitions up-to-date ensures that your computer is safe from virus attack. Since new viruses are created daily, new virus blockers must also be created. To keep your computer safe, your computer needs to know how to stop the new viruses. Updating your virus protection at least twice a week helps ensure a safe and healthy computer.

How do I keep my virus protection up to date?

Follow these steps on your PC:

  • Click ‘Start’ > choose ‘All programs’ > choose ‘Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition’ > click ‘Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition’
  • When the program opens click ‘Configure’ > click ‘File System Realtime Scan’
  • Make sure there is a check-mark in the ‘Enable File System Realtime Protection’ box
  • Choose the ‘Macro Virus’ tab. Make sure ‘1. Action’ is set to ‘Clean Virus from file’ and ‘2. If action fails’ is set to ‘Delete infected file’
  • Choose the ‘Micro Virus’ tab. Make sure ‘1. Action’ is set to ‘Clean Virus from file’ and ‘2. If action fails’ is set to ‘Delete infected file’
  • To receive notification of viruses found make sure there is a check-mark in the ‘Display message on infected computer’.
  • Make sure there is a check-mark in the ‘Network drives’ box
  • Save these settings by clicking the ‘OK’ button.
  • Close the Norton window or choose the ‘Exit’ button.
