| What is Add/Remove Programs?
- A function built into Windows to help the user get rid of programs
they no longer need/use and to install new programs.
|
| Why use Add/Remove Programs?
- Simply deleting the unused program from your computer can cause
two problems:
- Hard disk space is still being used for the “invisible”
functions that windows runs for that software. This means that
you will run out of storage on your computer faster.
- Windows is still trying to run the “invisible”
functions without the necessary files. This can cause errors that
can “crash” your computer. Also, if you install new
software that needs to use a program or location on the hard drive
that the old program is still using or occupying, conflicts will
occur and the new software will not work properly.
- Installing new programs becomes a simplified process. The user
does not need extensive knowledge of the software or Windows to
ensure an “error free” installation.
