Welcome to the IC Newman Club website! We thank you for
visiting and taking the time to check us out.
The Newman Club is a Catholic student group on the Illinois College campus
which is committed to providing opportunities for college students
to love and serve Jesus Christ. We do so in the Roman Catholic tradition
with our reliance upon prayer, Scripture, service, sacraments,
and most importantly the celebration of the Eucharist.
As a Newman Club, we seek to provide opportunities for Catholic
students to practice and nurture their faith in a healthy spiritual
environment. We gather for weekly Eucharist on Sunday nights
at 7:00 PM with prayer and music that lift our hearts to God.
We gather weekly on Wednesday evenings for Discussion Night
where we freely express the questions of our lives and ask how
our faith can answer these questions. For additional spiritual
nourishment, we also offer Koinonia retreats twice each year,
with the help of Quincy University Campus Ministry. Finally, in
our love for Scripture, we are starting a new weekly Bible study
during the 2003-2004 academic year.
In service to our Lord, we are committed to monthly service activities
as an outreach to the greater Jacksonville community. In service to the
univesal Body of Christ, we have spiritually and financially adopted
Hezborn Otieno from Kenya.
Thank you once again for visiting our website. Please come join us
for Eucharist anytime. We are in Rammelkamp Chapel every Sunday
night at 7:00 PM when IC is in session.
May the peace of Christ remain with you all,
Fr. Tom Meyer
