Dear Sisters,
The fall semester has
been a busy one for the women of SPE under the leadership of President Amanda
Morrison (’07). We began the semester with Philanthropy Week with the help of
service co-chairs Lindsey Hess (’08) and myself. The week featured a ‘battle
of the bands’ and raised over $260 for 4 Counties for Kids. The literary theme
for the semester was “Emotions: Exploring the Ties of Humanity through
Literature” and was led by vice president Laura Lawson (’07) and critic
Missy Albert (’08). Rush has gotten off to a great start under the leadership
of Rush Captain Valerie Cook (’07). We held a Rush-O-Ween evening and a henna
night.
Homecoming brought a
special treat for alumnae and actives alike as we celebrated 90 years of
sisterhood in SPE. The day’s events featured readings by Julie Kennedy
(’03), Carol Coultas Lohman (’45), Sandy Stalling Belatti (’70), and Amy
Lenhardt (’07). Thank you to the 90th Anniversary Committee for
their hard work. In true Phip fashion, the day’s events ended with the
celebration of Lori Large’s (‘93) announcement of her engagement.
We continue to work on
the room redecoration process but still need more funds to complete the project.
